It was exciting for us to watch this year's "Surfin' Super Bowl" and all of the videos and even Katy Perry's halftime show that depicted moments of surfing, or being on the water, or on the beach near the ocean. Perhaps the most powerful moment of Super Bowl XLV was Carnival Corporation's "Come Back to the Sea" commercial:
In the powerful words of John F Kennedy as spoken in the 2015 Carnival Corporation Super Bowl XLV commercial: "I really don't know why it is that all of us our committed to the sea . . . is because all of us came from the sea and it is an interesting biological fact that all of us have in our veins the exact same percentage of salt in our blood that exists in the ocean . . . We are tied to the ocean and when we go back to the sea whether it is to sail or to watch it, we are going back to which we came."
Perhaps today JFK's words might have been a little bit different- "Whether it is to sail or to watch it" now a sign of the 21st century- "Whether it is to surf or to watch it," or "Whether it is to get on board or to watch it."
There were several other Surfin' Super Bowl moments throughout the big game as seen in other commercials like the NFL Rally commercial where Kelly Slater is shown yelling his way through another ocean barrel and the Verizon's "It Matters" commercial with nearly 8 seconds of "selfie surfing."
And last but not least, probably the greatest Super Bowl halftime show of all time, featuring Katy Perry and Lenny Kravitz and a sea filled, surfboard pumpin, shark infested setting with sandy beaches and palm trees.
