Videography just got real . . . real crazy. While Hollywood Stars might complain about these flying snapshots, the wild world of action sports photography has found a new world to play with. The result, some of the most progressive footage ever seen! 2015 marks a new era for inland surf sport and action sports videography thanks to aerial drone footage and event coverage and a new perspective for wakesurfing, paddleboarding and river surfing that has not only made it easier to chase down the action for the videographer, it has created the cinematic affect of the big screen. 2015 is the "Year of the Drone" as seen in Issue #11 and here are 3 of the biggest moments for the mighty drone.
1. The Transformation of Action Sports Event Coverage- Nearly every big event on the water achieved a new level of professional live feed thanks to the mighty Drone. No more boring event coverage, a new way to put event attendance in perspective and best of all, a way to capture the action from a new angle. For wakesurfing events this means no more chase boats needed for close up coverage.
2. More Videos, Better Footage- The creation of the most exciting, artistic, and action packed action sports videos for the inland surfing world and beyond. Short films like "River Walkers" featuring Dan Gavere and Corran Addison, a film by waterlust.org. The result, more drones, more excitement and more videos than ever before.
3. Viral Videos- Through new drone footage, creative editing and the power of social media, inland surf sport videos were now more exciting than ever before. The result- more excitement, more likes and more shares on social media. Check out: "Wake SUP with SUP ATX" a film by yours truly, Max Fuerst and the Boarders Mag Crew. In 3 months time the video produced 1 Million views on Facebook. And then fast forward to the 1:00 minute mark in Drone U's viral video featuring Austin Keen- Gone Ropeless.
