Dan Gavere on the Starboard Astro Stream at Outdoor Retailer

Dan Gavere, whitewater SUP pioneer & founder of supinstruction.com, has created the perfect river running and river surfing board for all skill levels- the Starboard Astro Stream.  For Dan this has been a work in progress starting around seven years ago when he decided to stand up on the river for the first time.  This was something brand new, yet with his kayaking expertise all he needed was time, balance and the right board that could withstand the forces of the river.  Dan soon approached Starboard to create a whitewater specific board and within two years time and five prototypes later the Astro was born.

The Starboard Astro Stream is a 9'6 by 36" wide and 6" thick drop stitch inflatable beast.  It is a shortboard designed with a lot of volume that holds you up high on the whitewater and along with its heavy rocker makes it an ideal weapon for shallow water paddling, river running and river surfing.  Need an all around river board that is both performance minded and durable?  This is the board for you, the Burton Custom of the river.  Dan created the board with you in mind and to make it easier for performance on the river for all levels.  A personal pro model board designed, not for himself, but for the growing whitewater population that lacked such a multi-faceted river board.

So why get on board whitewater SUP, river running and river surfing?  "Because it's more desirable on the river, easier to learn and 50% safer" says Dan.  What's even better about this board is its proprietary fin system.  You're gonna have to check out this video to learn more:
