Boarders Mag: So, what have you been up to?
Vanessa: "Last season kicked my butt so hard that as soon as it was over, I took a long needed vacation. I have always wanted to travel to Thailand and it was everything I dreamed of and more. Since the water is pretty flat where I was going and no ocean surfing, I had to figure out how I was going to feed my soul for my love of salt water. So, last minute I decided to get certified a couple weekends before in the cold waters of Monterey CA- the best decision I have made in a long time! Exploring under the sea makes me wish I would have done this a while back and now I want to travel so much more!!
And so I went island hopping, hiking and kayaking and even played with wild life hanging out at the local markets, or on the beach... it was amazing!!!!
When I got back I really took some time to catch up on life and quality time with family and friends. February and March is when I start wake surfing again depending on the weather, so that means 8 months of my life is dedicated to being behind my Centurion boat. The winter months usually consist of traveling to boat shows to help support my love for wake surfing.
I have just started to get back out on the water with my wetsuit and it feels so good! I am testing out different prototypes with Victoria skim boards, we are calling it project "V," a new board that is more responsive and has a great looking design for 2015. Stay tuned for more info.
