THE 20TH ANNUAL CENTURION BOATS WORLD WAKE SURFING CHAMPIONSHIP TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 24-27 AT BLUEWATER RESORT & CASINO IN PARKER, ARIZONA
Merced, CA March 25, 2015; Fineline Sports Marketing, Inc. announced today that the 20th annual World Wake Surfing Championship will be held on September 24-27 at BlueWater Resort & Casino in Parker, Arizona. The World Wake Surfing Championship is the sport's pinnacle event and no place has ever hosted the World Championship like the BlueWater. Centurion Boats, a brand that has been building wakesurfing specific towboats since 1995, will provide the event's official fleet of World Championship wakesurfing towboats.
The World Wake Surfing Championship began in 1995 when members of the Centurion Boats marketing team assembled the world's best wake surfers on San Diego's Mission Bay and the annual season ending celebration was born. Two years ago, the World Championship attained a milestone that very few watersports events have when an armed guard wheeled $100,000 cash into the awards banquet. No other wake surfing event has come close to that amount of cash purse.
The purse remained at $100,000 for 2014 World Wake Surfing Championship; 48 podium positions were honored and twelve World Champions from all parts of the world were crowned as fans and spectators from all over the world watched via live webcast. The World Wake Surfing Championship has undergone a monumental ascension from its humble beginnings twenty years ago.
On March 6, 2015, Fineline Sports Marketing announced the World Series of Wake Surfing events and dates. As the official "feeder system" to the World Wake Surfing Championship the World Series of Wake Surfing jumped from twelve events in 2014 to twenty-three qualifying events in 2015 - more than ever! The World Series events are scheduled in nine countries on three continents from April through September and they provide wake surfers the opportunity to earn a birth at the World Championship event in Parker, Arizona where the best of the best assemble to compete for the coveted World title and a share of the cash purse.
Jim Emmons, Fineline Sports Marketing's Director of Events said, "We are excited to bring the World Wake Surfing Championship back to Parker, Arizona. It's one of the most outstanding locations to have ever hosted a wake surfing competition. The resort is top notch, and the waterfront Cantina with a closed circuit, ship-to-shore live television feed provides the best spectator-to-athlete interaction of any location. We are expecting a big turnout!"
The World Wake Surfing Championship is regarded as the pinnacle of wake surfing competitions crowning 48 podium placements from amateur to pro in both men's and women's divisions. The World Series of Wake Surfing was created in 2012 as the worldwide feeder system for any wake surfer to earn a position in the coveted World Championship event.
