Zolton “the magician” Torkos is the first rider to land a kickflip behind a boat on film! On Jan 23rd, 2014 Zoltan was invited out by Randy Sorenson from Las Vegas Watersports to wake surf behind the new Nautique boats G23 on Lake Mead. This was only the 4th time Zoltan had EVER been wake surfing! After some help from the Las Vegas Watersports crew on where to land in the wave Zoltan stomped it on his Vernor 6’0” ocean board!
Zoltan is a professional surfer from Santa Cruz, CA and is no stranger to doing kickflips on a surfboard. A few years back he won a competition that Volcom put on for the first person to land a kickflip on a surfboard. Zoltan stomped it landing himself a pretty purse of $10,000 and named it the Riemer kickflip after his good friend who had passed away and told him to keep going after his dream of landing the kickflip on a surfboard.

We jumped on the phone with Zoltan and he said “ I have only been wake surfing 5 times now and it’s becoming addicting with no one to fight over waves with, perfect lip all the time, and a consistent endless wave it’s awesome!”
The question we’re sure most competitive wake surfers are asking is.. Will Zoltan be attending wake surf comps this year?? He let us know that he plans to be at as many as he can.

Dates Announced! 2014 US Wake Surf National Championship
US Wake Surf Nationals has announced it's Dates! The 2014 US Wakesurf National Championship will be held Labor Day weekend, August 29th, 30th. & 31st. The event will be held at the beautiful Callaway Gardens in Pine Mountain, GA. Check out the video recap from 2013. You won't want to miss this event! Stay tuned for more info.
Wakesurfing With Olympic Snowboarder Tommy Czeschin
With the Olympics in full swing we wanted to give props to US Olympic Snowboarder Tommy “The Machine” Czeschin who was on the 2002 Olympic Snowboard team and is in Russia right now supporting Team USA! Tommy is a California native that has many accomplishments under his belt from being part of the US Snowboard team for a decade to competing in the 19th Season of The Amazing Race on CBS. Currently he is a pro wake surfer and has a signature model out with Liquid Force. He also rides for Nautique boats. Transfer Tricks.. The Future of Wake surfing?
Surf Gate, debuted by Malibu Boats to the market on June 15, 2012 and was the "innovation of the year" in 2013. In 2014, they are stepping up the game with actuators that are twice as fast making a quicker wake transition time for transfer tricks. To time your transfer at the optimal time, a horn on the transom sounds a series of beeps has been added to let you know exactly when the shift will happen. There are also optional tower lights, which indicate the transfer timing as well. Check out this great video by Malibu Boats about Surf Gate.
